I dunno. Aside from the Semitic Abrahamic Dark Ages of Ignorance and Superstition, the history of mankind up until the first century is pretty impressive, and the history of man after the restoration of literacy in europe after 1400 is pretty impressive. Despite the duration of their civlization, the egyptians were stagnant for almost all of it and then didn’t recover from the bronze age collapse. Despite the extraordinary good territory of chinese civilization, and the ability to concentrate wealth in imperial projects, they progressed slowly and stagnated. Despite the early achievements of Indus and later Indian civilization they stagnated and were the victims of every band of troublemakers that passed thru.
