But RU weaponization of radiation from the Zaporizhia power plant will irradiate the conquered territories rendering them uninhabitable while the RU tolerate the losses and wait for their (presumed) exhaustion of the west, failure of democratic governments, and the impossibility of recovery of the UA economy and her people. RU can afford to win by affording to lose more longer.

Some of us think like this. I certainly do. We just don’t do it. As Machiavelli warned, never let your morals influence your prediction of possibilities, because morality is only for you and your own – international warfare is an immoral enterprise….

I haven’t said anything because I assumed back-channel threats would be sufficient. But given recent events I think that possibility is exhausted. Exacerbating Russia’s position as a pariah will acclerate putin’s attempt to re-militarize the polity and the economy, and require even greater efforts at containment while his population declines into the elimination of the russian ethnicity.

And there is too little opposition (without assasinating him) to produce any alternative outcome.

Dictators are bad for two reasons: no checks and balances on stupid ideas, and total conversion of all relationships to yes men.
