OTHER ODD ASPIE BEHAVIORS (CONFESSIONS)
I find I do it(rocking) when standing in a public area with lots of people because it helps me focus on them amid the overstimulation. A female colleague and I who were friendly (just friendly) were arm in arm talking to some employees and I started doing it … and she gave me an odd look and stopped me. lol. I had to explain later it’s involuntary.

I found, living in ukraine, that this is partly because I feel responsible for everyone and everything at all times. So in Ukraine I found that I could shut that off in a way I can’t do so in the States. So partly, that’s why I love living there.

Almost all people will forgive aspie behavior if you explain it to them, and laugh at yourself. Don’t expect them to respect it. Permit them to laugh at it. Most of the time I ask them to help me – especially if I talk too fast, in too much detail. Though as I’ve aged I have much more self control over it. πŸ˜‰

I have one other odd one, which is that very very occasionally, when I’m under extreme stress, my left hand will do something ‘involuntary’. Like pick up a packet of sugar, or grab a drink or an Hors d’oeuvres, or something the right side of my brain considers soothing. ;). It’s very odd to have your body do something that looks deliberate only to realize you had no part in it. πŸ˜‰

I have, on a very few rare occasions, maybe a handful, in very serious circumstances, said that teasing me is fine, but (a) they’re still teasing me about a disability and I don’t tease them about theirs – which would largely include their intelligence – since I consider them having that disability (b) and I won’t tolerate attacking my ideas because of my ‘twitches’ so to speak, because it’s simply dishonesty, fraud, sedition, or worse. This quiets the room and restores order instantaneously.

Thankfully I’m not interested in star wars, Japanese anime, or any other such nonsense, but human behavior and such. So I can get away with talking nonsense to people about fascinating things they don’t understand or even remotely care about. πŸ˜‰

People are kind and gracious if you are kind and gracious too and I always try to be kind, gracious and gregarious whenever I can.

Why? Most people aren’t capable of serious discourse about serious things. They’re just human. And they prefer to leave that to people who are ok with doing it. πŸ˜‰
