This is an unfuitful discussion on social media because it’s easy to engage in wishful thinking. Especially so with women, when women are biased to both confusing desirability with truth, biased to wishful thinking and magical thinking for evolutionary reasons – including bias to empathizing instead of outcomes, avoding conflict over preferences, avoiding regulating others, avoiding self regulation of emotions and impulses, and supression of female trait neuroticism. But to correct for these behaviors baits us into conversations to say unpleasant things. And I prefer not to ‘truth’ people into instinctual moral outrage and altruistic punishment, because they are barely domesticated animals who cannot tolerate the truth that is unpleasant to them, as if taste had anything to do with truth. And who soil the necessary political discourse just as dogs do fire hydrants.
