@razibkhan AFAIK, the selection the article refers to occurs in and out of the dry persian gulf, including back-propagation to africa. There are a limited number of geographies that supply ideal resources for isolation and selection, and every significant leap I (we) know of occurs under those conditions. Each major leap: south african marshes, east african river valley, dry persian gulf, tibetan plateu, black sea, river-europe, ob river network was significant in the increase in neoteny by isolation and selection.
