“Q: Okay Curt, here’s a big one: as far as coffee goes, should it be taken with cream or black?”
Oh, this is a chocolate vs vanilla question on one hand and one of palate sophistication on another.
a) If it’s perfectly made arabica, say cold brewed, or even hot brewed by top pour or french press, or if it’s dark rich espresso, and especially if accompanied by a morning buttery sweet bread like a croissant, then of course black coffee is a luxury for the palate of the connoissuer.
b) For those of us whose stomach’s turn acidic with black coffee, then at least a dash of milk compensates for other than perfectly brewed coffee, and our stomach linings.
c) For those who have a sweeter palate, cream compensates for the acidity and bitterness.
d) For those who don’t like the taste of coffee add not only cream but sugar, for that sensation of chocolate milk you felt as a child, while attaining the status of adult, the caffeine, and not having to store chocholate milk and compete with the kids for it. 😉
(That last one was just for fun. I college I would often add chocolate milk to my coffee in the morning. 😉 )
