Something we have known for millennia: smart people can self entertain, make few errors, avoid risks, take better care of themselves, live on very little, and enjoy it much more than ‘tolerating’ not smart people or mundane work.
So, (as you argue successfully in your substack) if you’re ‘safe and secure’ becuase IQ is your capital, there is less incentive to accumulate wealth rather than self entertain and amuse and fufill.
Worse, in rough terms, we make our money from, and work with people within about an sd of ourselves. And there are smaller number of more competitive but decreasingly rewarding positions as income increases.
And worse still, in rough terms, networks of alliancdes and relations provide the discounts on opportunities for wealth more so than IQ.
So we should expect to see exactly the data distribution we do see.
