Q: ANE: Ancestral North Eurasians – a paleolithic hunter-gatherer hybridization at the end of the ice age.

Imagine the ice age from Spain to Siberia to the Americas.
West Eurasians (Europeans), East Eurasians (Asians), and in the middle of them, a hybrid Ancestral North Eurasians.
From this group, we evolved western migration into Europeans (eastern hunter gatherers, Scandinavian hunter gatherers) and eastern migration into the Americas as the Amerindians.
The difference is largely visible in Uralic people, and Amerindian people’s cheekbones vs the more general west Eurasian, and especially European. I notice it in many eastern Europeans still, and there are remnants in some Scandinavians.
Somewhere out of this group evolved the blond hair, because we have found bodies with those genes in southern Russia. And if I recall correctly that’s a mutation/adaptation from less than 20k years ago, and certainly 15-16k years ago. So it spread west and from north to south, as we see still today. (Neoteny is very reproductively advantageous)
BTW: the claim of brown-skinned, blue-eyed Europeans isn’t true. It’s just likely the ruddy complexion than brown, rather than the ruddy to very pink to white, we see today.
At one time I could have told you the alleles off the top of my head, but it’s either going to require more coffee, or looking something up to recall it this afternoon. 😉
