The problem is, that there is no evidence that marriage (pairing off) is not the competitive and evolutionary, optimum. It appears to be. I can’t find any counter-examples. Any economist, especially any behavioral economist, should have no problem explaining why. What happens when there is a surplus of unmarried (unpaired) men?
