@curtdoolittle Thats not wrong, though you leave out literally all the other non-economic reasons (faith, external threat, natural disaster, kin affinities, etc) people ally to support polities.

Also some of what’s suppressed should be, eg British empire stopped Atlantic slave trade, piracy.
