2) Unless you have children with her yourself you’ll have a sex and relationship bond but not Familial (Equal) bond, and so you can’t reach that ‘we come first then the kids’ stage. If you have kids, you can. Because now you have equal parental rights and obligations in her mind.

I’ve had three long-term relationships with single moms. And I loved them. I was reasonably good at it. But there are lessons to be learned:
1) Her children come first, never you. You’ll never reach the ‘we come first then the kids’ stage.
