ISSUE: Primitive environmental traumas whether from the climate, environment, flora and fauna, or ‘enemy peoples’, are offset by the extraordinary psychological defense provided by small, homogenous, bands and tribes. WHereas agrarian, industrial, and now technological societies reduce environmental traumas, but because of atomization, individualization, and alienation, maximizing de-socialization, trauma from familial and social relations with people have been radically amplfied. To no small degree, by the J-war on our institutions of cultural production, we have traded ignorance and mindfulness for knowledge and mental illness.
