I don’t do any drugs except ‘brownies’ every few years, and I don’t drink often. When I do I remember what it is to be an artist and an aesthete, rather than a computational engine of logic, economics and law, an entrepreneur calculating the next doubling of revenues, or a revolutionary seeking an opportunity to leverage the masses of desperate well intentioned fools. Do the common people understand the luxury of their innocence, ignorance, and emotional hyperconsumption? Or it is it just the only method of joy available to them? Do they appreciate the luxury of their naievity? I don’t think so. It’s only from afar our lenses of reflection resolve a recognizable image of self judgement.
