I’ve been extremely successful at predicting trends for the same reasons. But that doesn’t mean humans can’t behave creatively and avoid catastrophes. Generally they don’t. But that doesn’t mean they can’t.
You can’t fix geography or demographics – but you can policy and economy.

When an analyst, say Friedman or Zeihan makes a prediction it’s from the combination of demographic, strategic, and economic data combined with rational incentives of those in political power, who are so to generate opportunity for their people.
But deterministic != determined.
