The progressives were not trying to undermine western civilization but continuing the work of the church in secular prose. The postwar left was and still is, trying to destroy western civlization from within by the exact same method that they destroyed every other civilization.

@Lord_Keynes2 The period you’re talking about was the counter-revolution against great society left that was – mostly in new york, new england (connecticut) and california – desperate to imitate the soviets. (Something these states are still paying the consequences of.)
