Curt Doolittle updated his status.
—“Pardon my lack of colloquial English knowledge but could you please explain what across the tracks means? ð”—Yiannis Kontinopoulos
“From a lower social class” or “From the poorer side of town”. ie: My Fair Lady. Or “you can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can’t take the trailer partk out of the girl”. Or “You can take the (((insert group here))) out of the ghetto but you can’t take the ghetto out of the (((whatever)))”.
It’s not necessarily about money so much as ‘breeding’ or ‘class’.
