***All wise men are the same. They have worked hard enough at some study or other that they no longer rely upon introspection for the purpose of evaluation.

We have obviously lost sight of the fact that it is not the study of the subject matter that makes him wise, but that through his study of subject matter he no longer relies upon introspection for tests of reasonableness, decidability or truth.

It takes much of a lifetime to train our minds out of circular reference – internal dependence – and into external correspondence. Partly because we train ourselves incidentally rather than purposefully.

It is my hope, my belief, and my aspiration, that we can, through education, make truthfulness as common a discipline as grammar and arithmetic. Just as we have made the language of general rules – that which we call science – a replacement for the language of a host of case specific rules. And just as we made case specific rules a replacement for mysticism.***
