Replying underneath someone allows them to delete your comment when they delete theirs.

I try to save everything I write, everywhere, so if something is worth saving, I post it as a new comment rather than a reply.

Same for something written by others: Copy the author’s text, then share his post, and past his text into your share. This will preserve your text (I think).
