As I said, it is partly a european issue. But there are many europeans who cannot make the journey because they retain too many primitive instincts (lack of agency and ability).
Through this (correct) lens we can easily explain the problems of our age as far more dramatic.

@bot3685 Just as in each other era, those unable to make use of new technology must be left behind by those that do. The difference is, that we can no longer move to undisocvered countries, and our post-colonial morality prevents conquest and replacement. So separation is the only choice.
