RE: –“The ultimate rent seeking is FIAT currency,”–
Is it? Fiat currency deprives the wealthy of appreciation in the purchasing power of currency without contributing to production, and of artificial interest without contributing to production. In both cases, that’s Rent Seeking. Fiat money that targets inflation that accumulates in longer duration than the maximum production cycle by not limiting production cycles, merely prevents financial rent seeking on the productivity of others due to artificial scarcity of the medium of exchange.
So no. While we may need to limit inflation to that which does not inhibit production cycles, fiat currency allows us to prohibit rent seeking on the productivity of others by those who hold cash.
