The USA has multiple protectorates. It’s not complicated. We’ve provided protection for over a century. England has for many centuries. You don’t need statehood (greenland isn’t big enough for statehood) to obtain benefits of association with the states. I mean, the USA is stuck with puerto rico, which has no business as part of the USA. But Greenland would mean the USA and Greenland would have strategic and financial benefits without political integration.
