How are you going to survive without $1.5 billion in subsidies from Denmark, when you have a population of 60k, consisting of a few glorified villages, on a strategic passage, and are indefensible? You can join NATO – maybe – but you have nothing to contribute. You can make a defense treaty with the USA which you’ve already the beginnings of. You could become a protectorate (like other islands) of the USA and perhaps obtain subsidies from the USA as well. But you can’t survive on your own. And the USA can’t afford to let you fall into russian or chinese hands because you’re delusional about your capacity to preserve independence.
