Imagine if the US didn’t have a military budget, and an almost equally large debt service to finance it, because another country had sworn to protect it. Yes, the USA could afford Medicare for All (which is all they need) if Americans weren’t carrying the weight of world defense, finance, distribution and trade, granting nearly unfettered access to our vast market and capital, and exporting the potential income of our working and laboring classes to encourage developing countries to join this costly international order Americans pay for. Which is precisely why Americans are returning to isolationism. And the fact that Europeans and Canadians insult Americans over this matter only encouraged Americans to return to Isolation: false virtue signaling at others’ expense, and lack of gratitude are enough to anger anyone.”–
