(Diary, Humor, Autism Memories)
The tendency to look between someone’s knees or feet to suppress the distracting stress of eye contact and facial expression until you get older and girls and women think you’re staring at their private parts.
It’s like. “Ok. Dang it. That’s not gonna work any longer. What do I do now?” You learn to focus just above the bridge of the nose. Sigh. It makes you look like you’re intently listening, when you were intently listening before. Except intently listening when eye contact and facial expressions are electroshocks of confusion is almost impossible.
I have a handful of these intrusive thoughts of horror when catching myself in my 30’s and 40’s.
It’s not the dumb stuff I did on purpose in life that bothers me. At all times, I usually did the best I could. It’s the stupid stuff like that – the purely autistic stuff – that’s totally innocent and unintentional that I find traumatizing. lol. 😉
