THE I TOLD YOU SO…. Yep. Trump does in fact play 4D chess. I have no idea how much is instinct and intuition, and how much is rational planning, but I suspect it’s an even split but that he’s public with the former and very private with the latter.

And all he had to do was force the europeans to step up and pay for their own defense so that the USA could return to detent if not reconciliation with Russia, and the eventual preservation of russia against Islam and China – meaning resources for europe.

He had to manipulate the world into this situation. He does it the way he does everything – by starting a conflict which the ‘talking’ world rallies against thus promoting his ideas for free, and achieving by ‘king of the hill game’ that which could not be achieved by persuasion and mutually beneficial incentive.
