Q: –“Curt do you use the 4o or o1 model? What about o3?”–

Great question. Aside from the fact that you only get so many questions before o1 shuts you down the primary difference is obvious and simple.

The 4o model has broader breadth and context with shallower reasoning. The o1 model has shallower breadth and Deeper reasoning.

So far, I have seen no substantial value out of o1, because it’s been optimized (like o3) for math and programming.

Math and programming need lots of permutations with simple vocabularies and logics. While Reasoning (what I work with) has complex vocabularies and logics, and so the emphasis on narrower breadth with deeper reasoning means it basically pukes on anything meaningful.

This is a natural consequence of who is building this thing.

OpenAI is currently training on Law so it should get better, but legal reasoning diverges from realism and naturalism, just as say, real world modeling of physics, or more importantly, say, self driving, converges on realism and naturalism.

Please tell me if this makes sense or not and I will clarify if necessary.

If you tell me what kind of problem you want to solve I can probably give better insight. -hugs,
