No, and we’ve just spent two years demonstrating it.
As we’ve argued for at least fifteen years, the problem has been computing power. We got our first glimps of that power in around 2005. It’s taken this long to produce enough hardware to approach solving the problem.
We still need neuromorphic computers (different hardware architecture) to overcome the energy and pre-compute costs, but by and large we’ve known since I was working on the problem in the mid eighties that it was just a hardware problem.
What we didn’t expect is that we could brute force a world model through massive textual relations. It’s got us part way there. We have work to do. But we are very close to achieving AGI. And we know how to get there.
