DYSGENIC FERTILITY AND DYSGENIC IMMIGRATION
Average IQ scores in the United States have been declining in recent decades. This phenomenon is sometimes referred to as the “Flynn effect in reverse” or “dysgenic fertility.”
The study published in the journal “Intelligence” in 2018 by Michael Woodley of Menie and colleagues analyzed data from several large-scale IQ studies conducted in the United States over the past century.
They found that average IQ scores had been increasing until around the 1960s, but have since declined slightly. The authors suggest that this decline could be due to a number of factors, including declining rates of cognitive ability in the population, and changes in the composition of the population.
