German (brother, kin)
Harman>Herman>German>Hermanos literally means ‘war-man’, more generally, latinized as ‘brother’ or ‘kin’.
Teuton (tribe)
Likewise PIE root *teuta- “tribe” > Proto-Germanic *theudanoz > Teutones, Teutoni > Teutonicus > Teuton’s, Teutonic.
Early europeans were aware of a shared european identity. Europe at it’s core is german in origin and where not slavic, though the slavic people emerged relatively recently in european development.
