Both india and china for some reason that I fail to grasp, must present all too much in the gui
se of a children’s amusement. I never understood it in Cirque du Soleil any more than I’ve understood it in their recent political display.
Everything must be presented not as human excellence and discipline but as childish play … why? Are they that easily threatened? Is childhood a comfort to the people? Is it a psychological safety against the conditions of poverty? Is it the most they can cognitively associate with?
Same goes for their arts. Why isn’t there a greco-roman aesthetic of man in the rest of the world? Why? They don’t like or trust one anther. Look at chinese art: people aren’t heroic or good or virtuous. They’re seeking the peaceful.
