(International Shipping)
So, on Ebay, I buy a replacement subwoofer speaker for my desktop sound system. And I’m so spoiled by Amazon’s speed, I’m shocked by the estimated delivery date. Then I notice it’s coming from Shenzhen. Ok. So a speaker that an american company would sell for at least 70 and as much as 250, I bought for under 30, with free shipping, but it has to come across the pacific ocean and go through how many hands? And it’s only possible because the chinese government subsidizes shipping? Maybe the USG should subsidize shipping. Why do americans need 1/2 price parts at the expense of the employment of americans and the retention of skills and production in america? It’s not like this is a matter of comparative advantage. It’s a matter of burning production and human capital. 😉
