Of course progressives are unhappy. Progressivism (American ‘liberalism’, Leftism, socialism, communism) is a feminine intuition, in search of irresponsibilty for self and commons. As such just as women are never happy, progressives are never happy for the same reason.

The only way to make them comfortable in their continuous unhappiness is to create boundaries that contain them so that they’re in the same boat as everyone else – which is their concept of equality.

Conservatives express power as prevention of control to demand responsibility – and progressives express power as pursuit of control to evade responsibility.
