Intelligent people lie less because they are able to negotiate creatively given their superior abilities. Second they are less desperate to hold to their priors. Third they are usually safter socially economically, and in self image and status and so more insulated with more opportunities to further insulate them from risks. Fourth, your reputation is too valuable to smart people because your existence is more tied to your value in intellect and honesty than a person lacking intellect and honesty who must discover other means of competitive survival.

Furthermore, lying is a lot of work that requires a lot of memory and it’s just not worth it.
