I would like to understand why you think Wolfram was naive when as far as I know, no one comes close to his understanding – which is demonstrated in multiple fields of mathematics, computer science, and physics.. His only weakness is his rather challenging inability to articulate those ideas with clarity to a broader audience. Something I sympathize with given the difficulty in my own work which is distantly related.

Both Joscha Bach and I have stated that if wolfram had not solved the problem we woud have had to because we were both aware of it. The interesting approach that wolfram has taken with his use of Ruliads is to NOT include sequences, but to use evolutionary survival as an adversarial competiton between teh rule sets. This is why he was able with some certaitny to explain tht the universe is not ‘fine tunde’ but instead, is the only set of relations that can survive.
