The ‘framing’ as difficult is an effort to reduce immediate rejection for those who immediately reject what they do not on first blush comprehend.

Also, you’re not ‘average’ in ability whatsoever. 😉 And we who are blessed with above average ability tend to overestimate the common folk because we are possessed of the same bias as all folk, in that we presume more than is true how similar we are to others. 😉
