It’s not possible. Israel will eventually colonize both the strip and the entirety of the west bank – and must, in order to survive as a state given the demographic problem of jewish reproduction. The future is less dependent upon israel than it is on Iran. My understanding is that the USA has faith the regime will eventually weaken so that we can avoid another war. Otherwise, the USA will back israel and both will wipe out Iran’s leadership and military, and let it fall into chaos like Iraq until a more responsible and less aggresive and less ‘caliphate’ driven instead of nation-state driven government comes into being.
We don’t think of the world wars as the end of empires, and that iran, russia and china are the laggarts, but that’s what happend during the world wars. The replacement of victims of empire with federations of benefitting nation states.
