I was raised in the catholic church and fulfilled the rituals in a promise my father made to my mother that she could raise us catholic. My father’s side is protestant CofE and my ancestors were activists and authors of many church doctrines. And so I am appreciative of both the church’s mission with the peasantry and the CofE’s mission with the aristocracy. As such I consider myself a mixture of both. However I am also a scientist first and formost so I am more compatible with the CofE because they only care that they teach you morals while you are young, knowing that you will retain them throughout life, and as such they care less about your adult standing in the supernatural, and more about continuing the ritual indoctrination of children into christian morals and ethics.
Iin the sense I have more in common with the church fathers and in particular Aquinas who understood the importance of science first in matters material and faith first in those of the spirity.
