In my moral understanding, that would have been lying by omission. 😉

I don’t entirely dump on christianity. We westernized and then germanized christianity. And christianity gave the lower classes a pathway to respectability, self image, and status, and as such integration and enfranchisement in a western aristocrdatic society, that otherwise requried ability, family, and resources.
Could this same thing have been achieved without middle eastern mysticism? Yes. And it was in progress.
Is the greek way, or what we call stoicism, more like buddhism but even more rational and absent mysticism? And would we likely have been far better of had it continued to expand into the emerging sun cults? Of course.
