I understand the moral intuition, to rebel against capitalism (rule of law) in favor of socialism (rule by arbitrary human command) but I am, unlike you, too knowledgeable about physics, behavior, economics, and evolution to believe such an … immature … thing.
The only reason you’re not as poor as an African tribesman or medieval starving peasant is the massive cooperation created by the predecessor to the internet: the combination of the rule of law, property rights, and financial instrumentation that uses infinitely cheap incentives rather than infinitely expensive dictates to organize human behavior for everyone’s good.
Our country is in the toilet largely because well-meaning people like you believe an alternative is possible while still tolerating immigration, redistribution of reproduction from the upper and middle to the bottom, and the loss of our competitive advantage that provides you with the privilege of being naive and wrong without starving to death.
Can we fix the financial system, the economy, and the polities of the government to limit the asymmetric rewards of modern scientific and technological reality? Of course. And it’s not even hard. But if people like you keep voting for government centralization, then it won’t happen and you’ll continue to get poorer.
