Fascinating Paper
Released last December, and just published in Nature last week, this paper discusses the completion of the mapping of the Y Chromosome. It’s one of those papers I’ll need to study for a week. But on first read it’s fascinating. In part, because the authors, at the end of the paper, explain the condition of the existing databases of male Europeans as tainted. And in part because it provides insight into just how difficult this process has been given that the Y chromosome is one of the most difficult to sequence.
Interestingly, Europeans and the Ashkenazi are both used and show minor differences. I want to study those differences. But from what I understand, we do not know the effect many of these segments have on development.
Anyway, for fellow nerds. This one is interesting. 😉
