Joseph, there is some truth to the convergence of intelligence to marginal indifference, which is deterministic in the biological limits. After which specialization defeats general intelligence. And then there is partly an artifact of what questions you can ask on an iq test. I might need to find a better way of saying this but there is a point where returns on general intelligence converge on puzzles that are testable and then convert and diverge into predictive ability on problems with sparse relations that are untestable, other than by observed outcomes. That said, in general my observation of those people with greater ability than I, suggests that persistence of networks as working memory is where the advantage approaches the surreal. And that appears, I think, to result from a reduction in cognitive sexual dimorphism reducing sex differences in specialization in exchange for a synthesis that produces that working memory as a byproduct.
