These bands attracted me over my lifetime, but why?

– Yes, Rush, Tull (The Progressive – Art Rock Movement)
– “Individual Artists” (The indie artist movement)
– Nirvana and (The entire Seattle Grunge movement)
– Breaking Benjamin (The Post Grunge movement)
– Tool and Perfect Circle (Alt Rock)

What do they share?
– innovation,
– musical complexity,
– lyrical depth,
– influence.

In other words … innovative complexity.

I’m not so much interested in any band, but the drop in sophistication of music that began about the same time as the obama presidency, widespread smartphone use, social media, tipping point immigration, and feminization of entertainment and media.
