DISAMBIGUATION OF THE SPECTRUM OF CERTAINTY:
0. uncertainty
1. faith (religion, supernatural, ‘on authority’)
3. belief (philosophy, rational ‘on reason’)
4. trust (empiricism, law, consistency ‘on evidence’)
5. confidence (science, ‘on survival in application’)
6. certainty (personal experience ‘on limits of variation’)
Do you have faith, belief, trust, confidence, or certainty in something?
People conflate these terms (as well as logical, rational, reasonable) without comprehending what they’re saying.
