All individual claims of behavior reflect a distribution. Never overgeneralize without acknowledging the existence of tails. Even the military is conscious of the fact that some people join it precisely because they want to kill people. Others have no qualm with it. Some have some. And some need to be disciplined into it. (See: Acts of War: The behavior of men in battle by Holmes) The reality is that there are only so many conditions under which it is both permissible and useful. And it doesn’t take much experience traveling around the world to see just how willing humans are to chop one another to pieces and enjoy every moment of it. In fact, the principal problem with returning soldiers to civilian life is reversing the behavior.
(BTW: No one who had personal knowledge of me would question which category I fall into.)
