Charles,
Love and admire you as a profoundly substantive and moral man whom I could only desperately wish to aspire to be.
But there is a large contingent of about half the population that grasped, as did Trump, that the postwar era had ended, and that they were being sold down the river by a rather classical example of Turchin’s overproduction of elites, and the gradual erosion of the constitution, our traditions, and our high trust society, and the accumulated sacrifices and capital invested by them and their ancestors in creating and preserving it.
Trump was correct on geostrategy, on trade, on taxation, on immigration, and the restoration of the courts recommended by the federalists who sought to end lawfare and return the sovereignty to the people, the constitution, and the states, against the will of that bureaucracy, and the demonstrated behavior of that bureaucracy (academy, media, finance).
Some of us value character – I know you do. I certainly do. But as far as I know, those voters wanted an executioner and the character of an executioner, and they got one.
If the voters could have achieved those policies with a man of better character, that would clearly have been preferable.
But those people were never given that option.
I have been working for decades to find a solution that would prevent what is a deterministic repetiation of the civil war, in fourth-generation form, from which we might never recover.
I’ll take the next executioner if that’s what’s required to prevent that catastrophe.

Love and Respect
