Not that I should quote zizek, but if you weren’t indoctrinated into christianity would would view it as just as ridiculously as you would view any other counter-intuitive religion. Now I had to work hard to ‘science’ christianity and as a political religion it’s extremely successful – not because of it’s jewish origins and all the superstitious nonsense, but because it was germanized in europe and converted to a mirror of aristocratic civilization, continuing european trifunctionalism, but giving the slaves, and serfs a representative elite in the priesthoood.
