FWIW: I had to change my name to suit the new identity rules for passports etc, because I’ve never used my (ostentatious) birth name in my entire career. I considered choosing one of the other family names: Brockway, Boudway, Baldwin, Beaudoin, Dean, Forbes, Allen, Goddard, etc.…

If I tell you it’s a Norman name De Dolietta, from near Avranches France that was mangled in England during the black plague like many other names were mangled, then does that help? 😉
It’s an old norman name. And there are just too many notable ancestors in our family history to disregard it.
I do have a few chipped teeth from all the fights I was in as a kid. The original dr dolittle (different spelling) movie came out when I was in grade school, and it resulted in a lot of fist fights. 😉
