4/4 So this is why I keep coming back to the ‘false promise of equality other than under the law’. Because it’s increasingly clear that you need a Natural Aristocracy to create non-bad status signals to imitate, and class hierarchies for terms of success given our abilities.

3/4 I can understand my 20-yr marriage as fulfilling my desire to create a power couple – and it worked. But why is it ‘power couple’ not the general ambition, and instead, marriage for just sex, consumption, and entertainment? It’s just a value in the upper classes now (again).
