“By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you’ll become happy; if you get a bad one, you’ll become a philosopher.” – Socrates. (Hellenic satire at it’s best.) I had a good wife. So, does that mean I can’t be a philosopher? Or does it mean that women shouldn’t marry philosophers? Which seems much more likely. Yes. I think Socrates got it backwards. 🙂
